Music and the performing arts present opportunities for students to further their gifts or discover gifts they never knew they had. At Arndell we offer opportunities for both Junior and Secondary School students to explore music and the performing arts in an encouraging environment.
Research has shown that learning a musical instrument enhances skills across various areas of education. At Arndell, we offer an extensive performing arts program that includes a robust music curriculum from Pre-Kindergarten to Secondary School.
Our Junior School music program emphasises introducing students to playing instruments in a fun and participatory environment. Starting in Year 3, students are provided with their own instruments, which they learn to play throughout the year.
From Kindergarten to Year 2, students participate in the Annual Hawkesbury Eisteddfod, where our College has consistently achieved pleasing results. Additionally, all Junior School students have the opportunity to join the Junior School Vocal Choir and Handbell Choir. These ensembles perform at various events throughout the year, including the annual Mother's and Father's Day Breakfasts and significant award assemblies.
Stage 3 (Years 5 & 6) students can also elect to participate in our lunchtime drama and performing classes run as part of the Junior School Eagle Wings Co-curricular Program.
For our Secondary School students, we offer a range of elective options to further develop their musical talents and interests. Our comprehensive program ensures that students receive a well-rounded education in the Performing Arts, fostering both their artistic and academic growth. Students are encouraged to take part in a varioety of Co-curricular Programs such as Chapel band, Junior Rock Band, Chamber Ensemble, Intermediate Rock Band, Stage Band, Senior Rock Band and the Vocal Ensemble
A strong commitment to rehearsals and performances is essential for all students involved in Co-curricular Music Ensembles. These expectations are set out in the below Secondary School Music Ensemble Co-curricular Booklet.
At Arndell, the College Musical is a highly anticipated event that showcases the incredible talent and dedication of our students. Every alternate year, Junior and Secondary School students have the exciting opportunity to audition and participate in this grand production.
Our College Musical is more than just a performance; it's a comprehensive learning experience that spans several months of preparation. Students engage in rigorous rehearsals, learning about various aspects of musical theatre, including acting, singing, dancing, and stagecraft. Under the guidance our experienced Drama teachers, they develop their skills and gain confidence in their abilities.
Performing in the College Musical provides students with a unique opportunity to collaborate across year levels, fostering a strong sense of community and school spirit. The experience culminates in a series of spectacular performances that are eagerly attended by family, friends, and the wider community.
The the College's School of Performing Arts offers Instrumental Music, Voice (Singing), and Speech and Drama lessons that occur throughout the school day. The program uses a rotating roster which ensures students who participate in these lessons do not miss the same classes regularly.
